Community Festival

We are delighted to announce that the Community Festival 2026 will take place at Solbacka Ecovillage in Fagervik (map) in 24.7. – 26.7.2026! ⭐

🍓 The family-friendly Community Festival has become especially beloved for its warm-hearted, welcoming, and genuinely connecting atmosphere. The program is built around workshops, musical performances, shared meals, and activities created together by participants. The workshops include topics such as conflict resolution, communication skills, connection with nature, sustainable food production, embodiment, dance, the cornerstones of community living, and dedicated activities for children. 🤩

At the heart of the festival is a sense of belonging. We want to create a weekend where everyone can feel part of a community and connect with others in a warm and supportive atmosphere. This is reflected both in the program and in the overall spirit of the festival: we come together as a caring community that looks after one another. The Community Festival offers a counterbalance to the individual-centered pace of everyday life and the loneliness that many people experience in today’s society.

One of the central elements of community is celebrating together 🥳🪇🎶 At the festival, this will be experienced through play, dance, music, and various sharing circles. At the core of community are the traditional communal meals, built around high-quality ingredients and the joy of creating and sharing food together.

Most of the program is in Finnish but there is interpretation aid available during the festival and workshops. Couple of the workshops are presented in English.

PROGRAMME

The programme includes, among other things:

🌳 We also have something truly special in store: together, we will establish a nut tree seed orchard at Solbacka Ecovillage. In doing so, we will contribute to creating a more sustainable, resilient, and biodiverse food system for a changing world.

Celebration!

Celebrating together is one of the most important aspects of community. 🥳🪇🎶 Expect joy, music, and dancing guided by folk musicians, a lively DJ, and other shared activities. At the same time, there will be space for peace and presence in the evening – whether by the sauna, around the campfire, or through smaller, more intimate gatherings and performances.

The festival grounds

The festival grounds offer a cozy, nature-based setting surrounded by forest. A sauna is available on-site, and washing facilities are provided in the traditional Finnish way, with warm water and wash basins. There is also an opportunity for swimming in a spring-fed lake, located about a 5–10 minute walk through the forest. Accommodation is provided in the camping area on a meadow, and if you prefer, you are welcome to pitch your tent in the peace and quiet of the forest. The site also includes clean and comfortable composting toilets, a chicken coop that adds to the lively atmosphere of the homestead, and first aid supplies along with a designated first aid coordinator to support everyone’s safety.

Communal meals

Communal meals invite you to pause and gather around the same table to share food, moments, and encounters with other participants. They form the gentle heart of the festival: a space to rest, connect with new people, and experience a sense of belonging within the community. The shared vegetarian meals are prepared by the kitchen team using high-quality ingredients, and are served in the spirit of collective presence throughout the festival. Communal meals are served as follows:
Friday: dinner
Saturday: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Sunday: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

All meals are included in the festival ticket price! ⭐️

Bon apetit! 🥕😋

Family-friendly approach

The festival is a family-friendly event, drinking alcohol is not allowed. Children are taken into consideration throughout the programme. Children under 9 years of age can attend free of charge, and there is a dedicated children’s area at the festival site, along with activities designed especially for kids. Parents can also agree among themselves on childcare shifts, allowing the whole family to enjoy the festival in a way that works best for them.

Shared contribution

We create the festival together, through collective effort, where every participant is welcome to bring their own small contribution to the shared experience.

What would you like to offer or share with joy? You can contribute your skills by taking part in supportive tasks such as assisting in the kitchen, hosting or announcing, heating the sauna, guiding traffic, or helping with cleaning.

Every contribution is valuable, and the unique atmosphere of the festival grows from doing things
together. Whatever the task, everyone is an important part of the whole. 💜

Offer programme

Do you have a workshop, performance, or other programme that fits our themes and could enrich
participants’ experience and the community?
We have already received a wide range of programme contributions, but we are now especially looking for providers of children’s activities and workshops related to community skills. Programme contributors’ participation (including food, accommodation, and programme access) is covered by the festival.
