Myths weave us into the fabric of our soul, ancestry and to the great patterns of nature. Since the beginning of time, we humans have gathered around the ferocious power of myth to drink medicine from its ragged imagery.

We’ll hear a West-African myth of The Half-Girl. This initiation story tells of a girl who needs to leave behind her home village in order to learn from the wilds that which the village cannot give to her. Following the tracks of the story we receive ancient teachings on what it is to grow into a whole adult who delivers her soul purpose to the people.

This story is followed by another tale of the mythic feminine, The Woman Who Became A Fox. She lives with her secretive husband at the edge of the woods. One day, she runs away. Her story tells us what price asks to be paid to travel one’s own path.

Meri Karhu is an animist ritual artist, wilderness rites of passage guide and a ceremonial bodyworker specialising in the pelvic bowl.
